Floater Deck Skids

Floater deck skids incorporate cushioning foams, springs and other materials into traditional skids to provide shock protection and vibration dampening for sensitive, high-value electronic equipment. Using floater decks for shipping machinery that has critical performance tolerances frequently eliminates the need for post-transit recalibration once the product arrives at its final destination.

The design of a floater deck skid is based on weight and G-force data provided by the customer and on compression curves calculated by Chick. These calculations are used to determine the type, density, thickness and configuration of packaging materials needed to protect the payload.

Unfortunately, many floater deck skids are subject to failure because an inexperienced builder designs a symmetrical loading configuration for an asymmetrically-weighted payload. That can spell disaster.  But not with Chick. We have the knowledge and experience to design to precise centers of gravity and uneven weighting with targeted support structures to keep loads appropriately supported in transit and vibration free.
